Henry Sigler

SIGLER, HENRY (ca. 1815–unknown).Henry Sigler, barber and inventor in antebellum Texas, was born around 1815 in Virginia. He was a free black resident of Galveston before the Civil War. Sigler advertised a "few tunes of good violin music" with every haircut. He obtained a patent on an improved and safer fish hook in 1854. He sold the patent for $625 to two men from New Orleans in 1858.
