Photograph shows a congregation gathered in the interior of a church for African Americans enslaved at Rockville Plantation on Wadmalaw Island near Charleston, S.C. A minister in white robes points to a Bible and a print of the crucifixion on the altar. The congregation is gathered at the front of the church, many kneeling at the altar rails.
